As of the 2020 census, the neighborhoods of Woodside, Sunnyside, and Long Island City were home to 167,786 people, with an additional 154,840 residing in the adjoining neighborhoods of Maspeth and Astoria. These are middle-class neighborhoods, characterized by many families and small businesses. One distinctive feature of this area is its high level of political mobilization. Here, personal passions have a significant influence on public discourse regarding various issues that impact local life.

Amidst this dynamic environment, we recognize a noticeable gap. Many individuals living here have not yet connected their personal narratives to God's story. It is within this space that we discern God's invitation to The Table NYC. This is an invitation to embody what it means to love our neighbors selflessly, to live out the teachings of Jesus within a cultural climate that often prioritizes self-centeredness over others, and to serve as a living demonstration of the Kingdom that Jesus came to establish in our time.
