Story

We live in a time where the witness of the Church faces increasing challenges that, in many ways, have contributed to the decline in spiritual and religious affiliation. In a city like New York, this translates to more than half of the population not being a part of any consistent faith community. At least a third of the population states that they never pray. While slightly over half of the city's population claims to believe in God, only 25% see religion and faith as sources of guidance in life. When you add the complexities of a pandemic and increasing political and racial tensions to this foundation, it highlights the tangible ways in which the value that faith holds for the average person has been decreasing.

It is within this reality that God has birthed the vision of The Table NYC. We have begun cultivating a presence within the neighborhood. Whether gathering in homes or meeting in restaurants and coffee shops, we seek to embody God’s grace wherever we go as we make space for others.

What new faces might we encounter? What new stories may we learn? Who are the people that we could encounter that might not walk into a traditional church setting? What might our neighbors experience if we lived as the family of God?
