In Matthew 28:19, Jesus' command to His disciples reads, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." This highlights the significance of baptism in our faith journey.
In Romans 6:4 we read, "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Baptism visually represents our identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection—a symbol of our transformed lives.
Acts 2:38 reveals the connection between baptism, repentance, forgiveness, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when it says: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Author Tim Keller described baptism as "a sign that God has laid hold of our lives, that he has brought us into a covenant relationship with himself, and that he has washed us clean of our sins."
